Meet Kway

Hello, Im Kway, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Certified Thai-Yoga Bodywork Practitioner, and Licensed massage therapist. I received my Bachelor in Nursing in 2016 and graduated from Caldwell Community College Massage and Bodywork Therapy program in 2021.

I strongly believe in the body's ability to heal itself when we listen to it, and I utilize my knowledge and expertise to the best of my abilities to assist in this process. By listening to the body along with thoughtful communication and loving kindness, my clients and I can create a collaborative approach towards reaching their goals.

I enjoy learning and continue to develop my skills and techniques to better serve my clients. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as Thai-Yoga, Joint mobilization, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Manual Lymph Drainage, Trigger Point, and Cupping to personalize the session to achieve the best results for each client.

Learn about my services

  • Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is a holistic, meditative, and interactive style of bodywork. Sometimes referred to as 'assisted yoga', Thai Yoga Massage incorporates elements of yoga, stretching, breathing, acupressure, and rhythmic compression along energy (sen) lines, focusing on improving and balancing the flow of energy throughout the body. It is deeply relaxing and grounding, yet also energizing and balancing. Thai-Yoga Massage is done fully clothed on a mat on the floor.

  • Deep Tissue massage targets chronic tension held in the muscles deep below the skin surface, done in direct, slow, and rhythmic strokes. With the use of oil, the muscles are slowly stretched and kneaded to provide a relaxed and therapeutic release.

  • Swedish Massage incorporates the use of classic massage techniques to manipulate soft tissue for relaxation and holistic therapeutic purposes.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage focuses on light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. MLD specifically focuses on the lymph vessels to help facilitate the flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the lymphatic system.

Client TESTIMONIALS

“I can't say enough good things about Thai massage itself and Kway Thai Massage in particular!

I've had massages in the past--was never a huge fan.  But what Kway does--wow!  I suffer from arthritis and this is the first time someone has actually stretched my joints!  I feel this particular style of massage is truly therapeutic--and worth the investment in my health.  After a session with Kway, I feel more calm, have better flexibility and range of motion as well as less pain and a higher energy level.  Thanks, Kway, for helping me with my self-care!”

FAQs

  • Sessions are best booked via email: Massagebykway@gmail.com or call/text phone: 828-260-2444

  • No, we are by appointment only. I keep my studio locked for the privacy of my clients.

  • The foundational theory of Thai Massage is about the movement of energy. Thai Massage can be more rigorous and energizing than almost all of the more typical forms of massage. Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage because the therapist moves you through a series of yoga-like stretches using their hands, elbows, knees, legs, and feet. People say Thai massage is like doing yoga without having to do any work. A combination of muscle compressions, joint mobilization techniques, and acupressure is used during treatment.

  • We will meet and go over a brief health history and assessment. Following the intake you will then be directed to a room with a comfortable mat on the floor.

As a Thai Bodywork practitioner, I will stretch your body for you, decompressing joints, lengthening muscles, and releasing tension. This assists in improved flexibility, and overall better energy flow in your whole body/mind/heart system. We seek to treat the whole person and help restore the balance in your body/mind/heart system, by using a combination of hands, feet, elbows, knees, and forearms to guide you through passive stretching, pulling, rocking, compressions, and pressure to help you feel better in your body.

  • With Thai Bodywork, you remain fully clothed. Workout shorts, loose-fitting or yoga pants, and a comfortable shirt are best. Socks off is preferred, but your comfort is most important so if you prefer to wear them, it’s ok.

  • Yes, Thai-Yoga massage can be done outside, weather permitting and I welcome this request I have set up my mats by rivers, on the parkway, in greenways, and backyards.

  • MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid. Therapy is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected area, or “decongest” the region. MLD helps open the remaining functioning lymph collectors and move protein and fluid into them, as well as helps speed up lymph fluid flow through the lymphatics reducing pain and swelling.

*If you are considering lymphatic drainage massage as part of your treatment for any health condition, please consult first with your physician. *

  • Deep Tissue Massage is a full body massage that deeply manipulates the muscles and the connective tissues (fascia). The massage therapist uses fingers, hands, and elbows to break up the tension within muscles. The deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension because it reaches muscles located below the surface of the top muscles and loosens up trigger points, or adhesions that exist in the muscles and fascia. This provides better circulation of blood and relieves deep-seated muscle pain, relaxing the body.

  • Swedish Massage is a type of full body massage incorporating the techniques of effleurage (long, gliding strokes), petrissage (lifting and kneading the muscles), friction (firm, deep, circular rubbing movements), tapotement (brisk tapping or percussive movements), and vibration (rapidly shaking or vibrating specific muscles). Swedish massage is usually considered a light, relaxing, stress relief type of massage which can be given 2-3 times a week if necessary.

  • During your free consultation, we will go over a brief health history as well as your treatment goal. Then based on how you are feeling or are needing specific areas worked on, I may make suggestions or modifications to your session.

Please allow 24 hr notification if you are not able to make your appointment, if no notice given, you will be charged for the full massage session.
